An End of the year note from Dr. Bill

A Word from Dr. BillNo Comments

As some of you may know, 2008 marks my 30th year as a dentist in Grandview.  After 30 years I can honestly say that I love what I do.  The advancements in dentistry continue to inspire and motivate me to learn and grow and become better and better at being a dentist.

Looking back over the years I am amazed by all the changes in dentistry that make a patient’s time in the chair shorter, more comfortable, and provides a stronger more reliable end result.  There are treatments today that are even invisible so no one knows you are straightening your smile!

With this note I want to thank my patients for helping making 2008 another great year!   We, at Grandview Dental Care, take pride in the quality of care that we provide for you and we strive to provide the very best in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.  To do this requires continuous coursework in the newest dental procedures and dental materials as well as constantly updating our equipment and instruments.

If you have been in the office recently, you probably have noticed our conversion to digital x-rays instead of film.  This enables us to have your diagnostic information back immediately, with substantially less radiation to you and it helps the environment by not requiring chemicals and film for processing.

Besides the digital x-rays, we offer Invisalign orthodontics, a computer designed method of moving teeth with clear plastic forms that snap onto your teeth.  We are one of the three Premier Providers for Invisalign in the Columbus area due ti the experience we have with Invisalign.  Along with Invisalign, we offer Lumineers, veneers, crowns, bridges, bonding, and Zoom! whitening to make beautiful smiles.

In addition, I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my excellent staff, my family, and my patients.  It truly puts a spark in my day when a patient that has been with me since the early days is on the schedule or when any of my patients gives me a heartfelt “Thanks Doc!”  We all know that it makes a tough day that much more bearable when we are appreciated for what we do.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your overall health team.  We consider it an honor and a privilege for you to entrust your dental care to our team!

Sincerely,

Dr. Bill

We’ve been posting to our Blog since August of 2008.  It’s a quick way for anyone on the staff to publish an update to our website.  For example, we’ve had to close our office because of bad weather in the past, a quick post to our blog and our patients with appointments would know we were closed.

The best way to understand what a blog is, is to view some of the articles.  We invite you to choose some of the keywords or topics in the left hand margin to explore our blog.  You can also type in a search topic in the “search box” at the top right.

We want our patient community to be involved with our blog!

We welcome your comments to our posts as well as suggestions for blog post ideas.  For example our Halloween Candy Alternatives or Helping your children brush posts are just waiting for patient input!  You can share your input to our Blog in 3 ways

  • Login as a guest user (user name and password is “guest”, pretty tricky eh?
  • Create your own Login
  • Send us and email with the comment you would like to post

The Staff Celebrates Dr. Thompson’s 30 years in dentistry

Thoughts and Musings, fun, photoNo Comments

November 2008 marks the 30th Anniversary of Dr. Thompson being a dentist.  To celebrate this landmark occasion, the staff took him out to his favorite restaurant Z Cucina.  It takes a lot of dedication and passion to devote yourself to a profession for 30 years and still enjoy coming into the office each day.  It also takes a special guy to put up with an office full of women all these years!  :)

Congratulations on 30 years Dr. T and many more to come!  We enjoy coming into work everyday too….. ok, there may be some days we’d rather be in Baruba or some other fantasy island in the Caribbean.

My staff came to me with this idea and I always say things work even better when it’s the staff’s idea!

We are collecting unwrapped toys and donations for the Firefighters 4 Kids as well as non-perishable food for donations to local food pantry.

You can drop off your donations from now until December 22nd and we will deliver them to the appropriate locations for distribution to local families in need.

If you would like to drop off items after our business hours we will have a plastic tub on our front porch.

Thank you for helping us support this worthwhile cause.  It helps make everyone’s holiday a little brighter.

How to have fun over the holidays and not blow your weight loss success!

Do the Mariah Carey diet!  Ok, not really, but do watch portion size.  If you are going to “cheat”, eat as much as would fit in the palm of your hand, that way you’ll always be able to keep your portion size under control.

Write out a Holiday Workout Calendar - Holidays are some of the craziest and busiest of the year so go online and find a blank calendar page for the month of December and literally schedule all your workouts now.  Make sure you are getting in at least 3 days a week.  Voila!  Now you have 12 scheduled workout days in the month of December.

Make yourself go out and play with your friends!- When it’s cold outside naturally we want to stay inside, but that doesn’t mean we have to sit on the couch.  There is lots to go do that is active and fun.  Go bowling, have a Wii party, take some dance lessons, take a spinning class, go ice skating, find an indoor swimming pool, or if you are really brave go skiing or snowboarding.

Party! Party! Party! - During the holidays there are many holiday parties to attend and with holiday parties there is usually extra eating and drinking.  Drinking alcohol and festive non-alcoholic beverages can be a major contributor to weight gain.  If you know you won’t be able to forgo the bubbly or your cocktail of choice, then make a deal with yourself to drink a glass of water between each drink.  The water will slow your intake down over the course of the evening.

Thank you for your participation in our Operation Gratitude effort to send a little holiday cheer to support our troops.

We collected and shipped 33 pounds of stuff thanks to our generous patients and friends.

In the month of November we collected items recommend by the group Operation Gratitude and we are shipping them out today so that they can be distributed to the troops for the holiday.

We will be collecting items again next year beginning in September and October so stayed tuned to the blog for more information.  You can always search on “operation gratitude” on the blog to find all the associated posts.

We will be posting any letters or emails we receive from the troops on future blog posts.

Thanks again for making this a success!
