Our Halloween Candy Buyback was a huge success. We collected about 100 pounds of candy which we will be shipping to the troops via Operation Gratitude.  Thanks to everyone that made this event a success! Check out our video below.

So what do you do with all the extra candy after Beggar’s night?  The kids had fun walking door to door in Grandview or some other part of Columbus but now it’s time to give some of the loot to somebody else.

And we have the answer and it’s a great cause!

We are having a Candy Buyback on November 2nd.  You can drop off your excess candy from 5:30 – 7:30 at our office.(Get directions)  For each pound of  excess candy your kids donate we will give them a crisp $1 bill along with a goodie bag with items from  local retailers.  Have them dress up in their costumes to add to the fun!

We will also have cards available so kids can write a special note to the troops.

We will be shipping the candy and notes to Operation Gratitude who will distribute the candy to our troops overseas.  The troops may enjoy a treat or two but a lot of the candy will be given to children the troops come in contact with to spread a little cheer.  How fun is that?  From your child to another child in a country far away.

Not in the Columbus Ohio area?  Find a dentist near you that is participating in the Halloween Candy Buyback for 2009.

Thank you for your participation in our Operation Gratitude effort to send a little holiday cheer to support our troops.

We collected and shipped 33 pounds of stuff thanks to our generous patients and friends.

In the month of November we collected items recommend by the group Operation Gratitude and we are shipping them out today so that they can be distributed to the troops for the holiday.

We will be collecting items again next year beginning in September and October so stayed tuned to the blog for more information.  You can always search on “operation gratitude” on the blog to find all the associated posts.

We will be posting any letters or emails we receive from the troops on future blog posts.

Thanks again for making this a success!

I just recently came across this organization and I thought what a great way to make a soldier’s day!  Also, a great way to get rid of some excess Halloween Candy.

Grandview Dental Care will be donating toothbrushes and toothpaste through Operation Gratitude an organization that sends care packages to U.S. troops

In addition we will pay the shipping on any other items our patients or community wants to donate to Operation Gratitude.  Just drop off any of the items on the Operation Gratitude wishlist to our office by Monday November 24th and we will ship them to Operation Gratitude which will in turn distribute them to our troops.  We will have a plastic container on our front porch in case you stop by with items after hours.

Letters and drawings from children can be included.  These personal messages let our soldiers know how much we appreciate what they are doing!

If you have any questions, contact Becky at our office 614-486-7378 or send Becky an email

Check back to our blog and search on Operation Gratitude.  I will post pictures and letters as I received them.
