Tooth Whitening for $89 for all patients

For a limited time we are offering our Take Home Tooth Whitening for $89 to all patients.  Most people can dramatically improve their smile by whitening their teeth.  It’s actually pretty amazing.

So why are we offering it for $89 when some dental offices offer it for Free if you become a new patient.

Well, I am going to be completely honest with you.  We want new patients that are making a commitment to their dental health, not just patients that are looking for something free.  (see below for your opportunity to make it “free” when you commit to your dental health)

We think $89 is a very competitive price for tooth whitening at a dental office.  Heck, buy a couple of over the counter products that may (or may not work) and your close to $89.  Have you priced Crest White strips lately?  And when you become a new patient at Grandview Dental Care we stand behind that it will work and help to set your expectations as to how well it work.

So, how can you get it for free?  On the day you complete your 3rd professional teeth cleaning which for most patients will be 18 months out, we will credit your account the $89 that you paid originally for your whitening.

This $89 to Free Whitening offer is only available to New Patients that schedule their New Patient appointment by 8/31/2009.  You will receive your take home whitening after you have completed your 1st professional cleaning appointment.  So call us at 614-486-7378 or make an appointment here!

When should I bring my child in to the dentist for the first time?

I have been asked by several family members, “when should I take my child to the dentist?” I was kind of surprised because I assumed everyone knew.

Being a mother of two daughters, they both reacted differently in the chair.  Paige is my oldest and she had her visit at 2 years old. She did great and even let us do fluoride. Morgan my high maintenance child, she would only allow her teeth to be counted. When we came back at 2 1/2 she did great and every time she comes to the office for anything, she wants her teeth cleaned.

Every child reacts differently in the chair.  As parents we need to have certain expectations for the first visit too. The technique that we use is show, tell, do. So we show them what we’re going to do, then tell them, and then actually do.  That way they can see what’s going on before we even touch their teeth.

Kay one of our hygienists that has worked in pediatric dentistry, suggests age 3 is usually the best age. A couple tips that she suggests are to

  • schedule morning appointments.
  • Don’t schedule anything around nap time.
  • If they can sit for a haircut they are ready
  • When they get their baby teeth start brushing with fluoridated toothpaste. Use just smaller than a pea size amount. It’s OK if they swallow some. It takes a lot to cause any harm.

So the rule of thumb is 3 years old is the best age for a first visit, but if you concerns bring them in so that they can be addressed.

What does being an Invisalign Premier Provider mean to me, the patient?

We are very proud that we achieved Invisalign Premier Provider status in 2007.  But what does that mean to you, the Invisalign patient that is looking for clear braces?  We are 1 of only 3 Columbus Invisalign dentists that currently have this designation.

The company the makes Invisalign clear braces has set specific guidelines for Invisalign doctors that want Premier Provider status.   The guidelines have gotten tougher each year.

In order to maintain our Invisalign Premier Provider designation, Dr. Thompson must have 24 new patients that begin Invisalign treatment every 6 months.  This means a minimum of 48 new Invisalign patients each year. (the average Invisalign doctor typically has 4-6 new Invisalign patients per year)

And what does that mean to you, the patient that is looking for a Columbus Invisalign dentist?  It means…

  • We have lots of experience at getting you a straight smile invisibly with the clear orthodontic solution, Invisalign.
  • We see Invisalign patients in our office every day and we probably have a current patient with the same situation as you!
  • If you are not seeing the results you want during your Invisalign treatment, we know how to fix it
  • We can set realistic expectations for what Invisalign can do for your smile so there won’t be any surprises at the end of your treatment
  • We know what Invisalign can and can not do.  It’s not the right solution for all smiles and we will let you know that up front at your Smile Consultation before you waste any time or money.
  • We are committed to keeping up to date with this metal free braces treatment and improvements in techniques.  Every Invisalign Premier Provider must take 10 hours of continuing education each year to maintain their premier status.

Check out Invisalign dentists in Columbus or whatever area you live in by going to invisalign.com and typing in your zip code.  The doctors that appear first, have the most experience in that zip code.  We are in the number 1 position for many Columbus zip codes.

Are you ready to get a straighter smile we invisible braces?  Make your appointment for a free Smile Consultation today by calling 614-486-7378 or clicking!

Choosing your dental plan

It is exciting when you get that dental insurance benefit-you just know that now you can get that smile you have always wanted.

Dental insurance may have been one reason you chose one job over another. It is a job perk that some receive as an addendum to their medical insurance or a separate negotiated benefit. Unfortunately we aren’t always aware of how the insurance plans work.

I saw a patient this week that was new to our practice and just received new insurance and was under the impression that he had great coverage. When we went over his treatment plan he couldn’t believe that they only covered a very small percentage of his dental work. He had no idea how the plan worked.

Each plan and it’s coverage varies according to the contracts between the employer and the insurance company. Some tips on getting to know your insurance plan are to know…

  • who controls your treatment- you and your dentist or the insurance company? Some plans may require the dentist to use the “least expensive alternative”.
  • Ask to what extent does your insurance cover? Some companies limit your plan to what you can have done.
  • Ask what your dental plan covers for prevenative, basic and major work?
  • What is your share for these procedures?
  • Ask if there are any limitations on your plan?
  • Ask if you are free to see any dentist that you choose? Some companies have a list of Dr.’s that you must see or you don’t have any coverage.

Whether you have dental insurance or not don’t let the insurance dictate the level of care you want. Find a dentist that will treat you like they would their own family. Hopefully this will help anyone that is looking into dental insurance.
